TeaTimer 1.0 released

Posted by Philipp Söhnlein on Wednesday, September 17. 2008 at 23:41 in TeaTimer

Yeah, finally the 1.0 has seen the daylight.

Let's go directly to the features of this release. The bad news first: For the english speaking users, there are no new features. But all the others may be happy to read, that TeaTimer is now available in different languages. Currently included locales are: English, French, German and Polish.

I really have to say thank you to my two translators: Hannah Meyer (responsible for the french locale and for checking my english locale) and Paweł Sobczak (responsible for polish locale). They did most of the work for this release, so let's give them some applause. :-)

If you are interested in getting some honour and applause, too, you can contribute a locale in another language. Please contact me, if you are interested.

Oh, and there was one minor bugfix, please look at the corresponding page in my bugtracker for more informations.

Okay, enough blabla now. You can still download the extension from here, because the nomation proccess at AMO isn't completed, yet.

Happy brewing!

Chris on :

I love this extension. It's very handy for counting down not just for tea but for any other activity.

Two request/suggestions I would like to make:

1.) Option for persistent countdown. If I restart Firefox (maybe because I've installed an add-on or it crashed) in the middle of a countdown, TeaTimer just resets and sits there silently. The tea could potentially cool long before I remember that I made it. It would be nice if the countdown could continue upon restart if I so choose.

2.) Option to select own audio file for alarm. My general volume is set a bit low for other media, and it would be nice to be able to set something a bit louder than the built-in egg timer alert.

But again, thanks for this excellent, helpful extension.
